About Us
Our History
BCHA, a government entity established in 1997, under County Resolution, has long served as a trusted advisor on housing policy and as the administrator of deed-restricted (community) housing throughout Blaine County. The County’s Resolution states, “Recognizing that the Wood River Valley is one social and economic unit, the Board of County Commissioners believes it can better fulfill the affordable housing needs of the County’s residents by creating a county housing authority that represents all of its citizens through participation by the County and all of the Cities in the County as members of its governing body. By granting each governmental jurisdiction a more direct voice in the selection of the Board members, we believe the organization will be more representative and more effective fulfilling the housing needs of each jurisdiction and the county as a whole.”
Our mission is to be a central source for innovative solutions, advocacy, and knowledge for community housing. We were created to work as an extension of local governments and to ensure that all residents have access to attainable and affordable housing options.
